Jack Ellery, the host of the Talkback radio show, has become more vocal in his opposition to this project the more he learns about it. Mr. Ellery had Mayor Levine as a guest on Talkback the week of Apr 3; then Mr. Ellery interviewed Shirley Eberle on Talkback on Apr 12 along with Mayor Levine. Rickey Sumter also called in.
A number of other callers from different towns chimed in -- bashing both Ellen Ritchie and Bill Grippo. Later, Mr. Ellery heard from Ellen Ritchie and Ms. Ritchie agreed to be on Monday (4/17) morning's show. Mr. Ellery is outraged at the plan to add so many homes and a Home Depot on roads that "can't fit another Volkswagen." He was dumbfounded by Ms. Eberle and Mr. Sumter, and Mr. Ellery stated he was glad he didn't live in Franklin any more if it was run by people like that. Time to change the game from “Bash the Mayor” to “Bash the Council.” Call in and voice your opinion!
The hearing on the rezoning of the old ShopRite shopping plaza at the corner of Veronica and Rt 27 was supposed to take place on Apr 6; however this hearing has been postponed until April 20 at 6:30 pm at the request of the developer.
Please plan on attending this hearing and raise questions about the amount of undeveloped land they intend on covering over with concrete and blacktop and how they intended on controlling the traffic coming in and out of this plaza. Should be a fun night!
The Franklin Board of Adjustment (Zoning) will be meeting at the Franklin Muncipal Center on DeMott to rezone the old Shop Rite shopping center at Rt 27/Verornica for a Super Shop 'n Stop.
