What Can You Do??
- Attend the Franklin Township Council meetings every second and fourth Tuesday of the month. There is a public comment session where you can speak about issues to the Township Council. The address for the Municipal Center is 475 DeMott Lane , Somerset, NJ (for directions: call 732-873-2500 or click here). If no one speaks up at these meetings, then opinions about this development will not be part of the record! Check the Franklin Township Meeting Calendar for meeting dates.
- Attend North Brunswick Township Council meetings every first and third Monday during the month. The Municipal Center is located at 710 Hermann Road, North Brunswick. The phone is (732) 247-0922. Tell the Council how you feel about this development. Ask why this issue hasn’t been discussed at the Council Meetings before. Ask what the Council will intend on doing if Franklin approves the development plan. Check North Brunswick Meeting Calendar for meeting dates.
- Write, call, and email the mayors in North Brunswick and Franklin Township and the town councils and object to this proposed development by attending Franklin Township meetings at the municipal building on DeMott and voice your opinion. Attend North Brunswick Township Council meetings and speak up about the traffic issues and proposed state plan. Please see the Resource page for all the contact information.
-
Write letters to the Editor of our community papers and larger newspapers.
- Contact your elected officials and tell them how you feel. A list of your representatives in government is on the Resource page. Please write, email, fax or call!
- Join Franklin Residents Against Improper Development (FRAID). This citizens group has filed a lawsuit against the Township Council. To find out more about this grassroots group, please call (732) 247-5869 or visit FRAID 2006
- Talk to your neighbors about these issues and join together with other North Brunswick residents to protest the development by signing the online petition to the Township of Franklin Council protesting the Bennetts Lane Redevelopment plan. Email SaveNewJersey.org if you want to protest this development by putting a sign on your front lawn or a bumper sticker on your car. We need volunteers!
- Take a hold of your future: Make a sign for your front lawn that says “NO TO HOME DEPOT”. Print information from our website and give them to your neighbors and friends.
- Keep the issue alive. SaveNewJersey.org will continue to add information and resources to our website after Feb. 8 in order to keep you informed. Please check back on a regular basis for new information.
The Bottom line: The development can and will happen unless YOU do something! The more people that make noise about this issue, the better! The more noise that Franklin and North Brunswick residents make about this issue, the better! Say “NO to Home Depot!” Thank you!!
